Congratulations on your child’s Graduation. Our Graduation Ceremony will be virtual on October 21, 2020 at 7pm. Although we would have hoped for a face to face Graduation Ceremony, due to Covid-19 public health recommendations we are in the processing of organizing a virtual ceremony.
In order to celebrate your child’s graduation and their achievements, parents/guardians will receive a link to a video Graduation Ceremony for viewing on October 21st. The pre-recorded video Graduation Ceremony will follow the regular graduation components including a photo of each graduate, school and community awards, recognition from the school Trustee, Interim Director, Superintendent of Schools, a message from the school principal and the school valedictorians.
To protect the privacy of all students, the video is intended and accessible only for the graduating student and their parent(s)/guardian(s). Please do not share the video when you receive it on October 21st.
The video graduation ceremony is in accordance with Section 169.1 of the Education Act, “to promote student achievement and well-being” and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
On, October 22, your child will receive a personal gift bag which will include: OSSD Diploma, Graduation Composite photo, Graduation Gown, School Awards and Community Awards (if applicable), SHSM Red Seal Diploma (if applicable), Ontario Scholar Certificate (if applicable), Honour Roll Medal (if applicable), Graduation Program, Gr. 9 Letter to Self from Gr. 9 Orientation Day and the Yearbook.
We will be offering parents a partial refund as a result of the Graduation being virtual rather than face to face. Please expect a cheque in the mail by the end of the month.
We have scheduled a drive by pickup on October 22, 2020. Please follow the attached schedule to come to the school to pick up your graduation bag. Please drive up to the front doors of the school, open your trunk of your car and a member of the school team will put the graduation bag in your trunk and you can then safely drive away.
We are proud of our graduates and the opportunity to acknowledge their Grade 12 Graduation.
